Our Story
The Cornhill Club was established in 1931 and is one of the City of London’s oldest banking institutions. The Club was originally formed by a group of ten bankers looking to meet regularly and discuss some of the hot topics that influenced their industry.
This desire to be forward looking and stay in touch with latest developments in the banking industry remains central to the ethos of the club today. The “Banking Industry" has widened to become the “Financial Services Sector” and The Cornhill Club has changed with the times too. The Club continues to evolve in order to remain relevant today and in the future while maintaining the traditions and values central to the role of financial services in enhancing society.
These traditions are central to our core values as a networking club.
Trust & Loyalty – to be a trusted member of, or affiliated to, the financial services community and to regularly attend dinners and events.
Inclusivity - it is not enough to be diverse. Only through diversity and inclusion will we continue to innovate and remain relevant
Chatham House Rule - be discrete, respect the confidence of members, guests, and speakers
Follow up – if our members say they will make contact they will
Energy – bring your energy to the table. Contribute to the discussion
The Club provides its members with access to thought provoking, high calibre speakers and its followers will have access to online content. Joining the club as a member, or following our page is an excellent opportunity for industry newcomers and established professionals alike to hear from some of the sector’s most influential people, including CEOs of international financial institutions, fintech entrepreneurs, regulators, and some niche organisations that are at the forefront of financial services innovation.
Membership is open to everyone in the financial services ecosystem. If you are looking to make your mark in the financial services sector, network with like-minded people and people that will help you to look at things through a different lens, follow our page and e-mail us (admin@cornhillclub.co.uk) for more details on how to become a member and the conditions of membership.
